The Gastroenterology division deals with diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, liver, and pancreatobiliary. Professors and specialists provide specialized treatments for subsections of gastroenterology.

It conducts endoscopies over the upper gastro-intestinal tract, large and small intestine as well as capsule endoscopy for gastro-intestinal tract diseases (esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine). Advanced equipment enables investigations of causes of difficulty swallowing through esophageal manometry and esophageal motility tests. Regarding tumors in the gastro-intestinal tracts, it is also possible to treat early cancers and lesions located under the mucous membrane (submucosal tumor) with precise diagnosis through endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).

It provides systematic treatments for various liver diseases like hepatitis (virus, alcohol, drugs, etc), fatty livers, liver cirrhosis, and liver cancer, and also professional emergency medical treatment for other complications (Esophageal varix bleeding, hepatic encephalopathy, ascites, etc).

An exclusive scanning facility for treating pancreatobiliary diseases is ready in the endoscopy room to conduct a quick endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography (ERCP), percutaneous transhepatic cholangioscopy (PTCS), and pancreatic cysts and pancreatic pseudocyst drainage using endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).

The Gastroenterology division has recently conducted a collaborative treatment and tests with surgery division in the newly established gastroenterology center. A one-stop treatment system offers more convenient treatment service for those who need to undergo surgeries to have surgical treatment at the same time.
